On September 25, after camping the night before northeast of Fort Womack, the Washington County Militia crossed the South Fort of the Holston River at Choate's Ford,
Today's Bluff City, Tennessee, surrounds that crossing and has embraced the celebration of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail. The historic route passes through the footprint of the local middle school which hosts the Overmoutain Victory Trail Association reenactors for an annual commemorative event.
